The English version of Red Sorghum was translated by Howard Goldblatt, the famous American sinologist and transla-tor. At present, Red Sorghum sells best among Mo Yan’s works in the abroad. Howard Goldblatt extricates himself from the ar-gument between domestication and foreignization. With flexible and diverse methods, he,on the one hand, adapts the original text in the a readable, fluent and acceptable work for the foreign readers.On the other hand, the target text reserves the original cultural factors and style as much as possible. As idioms are full of cultural information, the quality of the translated idioms can show the translator’s skills best. This paper takes the translated idioms as examples to study Howard Goldblatt’s translating meth-ods and hopes to shed some revelation to the“going out”of Chinese modern literature.

The paper analyses the Japanese version of Mo Yan’sRedSorghum and the Chinese version of Haruki Murakami’sAWildSheepChase. Through comparing the information change caused by the translation ofthesun, the paper arrives at a conclusion that a translator will adjust the syntactic information, semantic information and pragmatic information to convey more effectively the overall information of the original work.

Howard Goldblatt translated this novel into English in 1993 and made a great suc?cess, which placed a solid foundation for the western readers’acceptance of Mo’s works. It has been re?searched that there are rewritings in Goldblatt’s translation and it may contribute to the success of its transla?tion. That’s what will be discussed in this paper.

In the English translation of images , the translator should interpret the images accurately and find the corre-sponding or similar images to convey the images in the original text .Red Sorghum is rich in images.Based on Palmer’s cultural linguistics, this paper tries to analyze the missing and mistranslation of images from the di-mensions of language and culture and it also concludes the causes of the missing and mistranslation of images to throw light on the English translation of images in Chinese literature .

In this paper, the method of corpus analysis is adopted in the alignment, annotation and corpus building of bilingual texts, and the corpus retrieval software is used to retrieve various culture-loaded words, and the translation strategies are analyzed and counted. The data shows that Ge Haowen mainly adopts do-mestication in the translation of culture-loaded words in"Red So-rghum", which is consistent with not only the mainstream of the English translation of Chinese literature, but also the translation ideas of translators. Through the observation of various cul-ture-loaded words, it is found that translators are more inclined to use domestication when they are dealing with material cul-ture-loaded words that scarcely have equivalent words, social culture-loaded words that easily cause cultural conflicts, and re-ligious culture-loaded words, while in order to retain the lan-guage features and exotic atmosphere of originals, foreignization is mostly used in the translation of language

Saccharum spontaneum L. is one of the most important wild sugarcane germplasm having strong resistance. In this research, two novel full-length cDNA sequences of catalase (CAT) gene (SsCA T-1c and SsCA T-1d, GenBank accession number KF864229-30) were cloned by in silico cloning and experimentally validated. The cDNA length of SsCA T-1c and SsCA T-1d all was 1 532 bp, containing 10 bp of 5'' untranslated region (UTR) and 43 bp of the 3''UTR, and an open reading frame of 1 479 bp encoding a polypeptide of 492 amino acid. The protein encoded by SsCA T-1c and SsCA T-1d contains a catalase family conserved domain. The high homology of cDNA (99.2%) and protein (99.0%) were found between SsCA T-1c and SsCA T-1d. There are 12 single nucleotide poly-morphisms (SNP) sites for cDNA, and 5 amino acid mutation sites for protein between SsCA T-1c and SsCA T-1d. The putative proteins encoded by SsCAT-1c and SsCAT-1d have high homology with sorghum, rice, corn and other species.
