语境的研究由来已久,许多学者都从不同角度对其进行了研究.作为系统功能语法代表人物的韩礼德也非常重视语境的作用.他认为情景语境的三个变量:语场、语式、语旨一起决定了特定情境的特征,即:语域,该理论现在也被应用到了体裁分析中.作者在回顾马林诺夫斯基和福斯的语境理论之后,介绍了韩礼德的语境和语域理论.最后作者分析了语域理论在体裁分析上的应用及其局限性.

The study of context has been going on for a long time .Scholars have studied this topic from different perspec-tives.Halliday, as the representative of Systematic -Functional Grammar (SFG), also assigns great importance to the role of context.Register Theory is one of the most influential theories in Hallidayan SFG , which is a theory about context .Field, tenor and mode, as three variables of situational context , together determines the characteristics of a certain situation .This theory has also been used in the genre analysis .The author, after reviewing theories of context proposed by Malinowski and Firth , in-troduces Halliday’s viewpoint on context and his register theory .At last the author analyses the application and limitations of register theory to genre analysis.
