帕尔默文化语言学是一种以意象为核心的文化语言理论。意象根植于文化,语言是意象的载体,因此,意象的解读与语言和文化有关。在意象英译的过程中,译者需要对其进行正确的解读,并尽可能地在译入语中寻找和原文对应或者相近的意象进行传达。文章以帕尔默文化语言学为视角,从语言和文化两个维度对《红高粱家族》意象英译进行分析,探讨意象缺失与误译的原因,试图为汉语文学意象英译提供相应启示。
Palmer’ s cultural linguistics takes images as its core .Imagers are rooted in culture and lan-guage is the carrier of images .Therefore , the interpretation of images is associated with language and culture . In the English translation of images , the translator should interpret the images accurately and find the corre-sponding or similar images to convey the images in the original text .Red Sorghum is rich in images.Based on Palmer’s cultural linguistics, this paper tries to analyze the missing and mistranslation of images from the di-mensions of language and culture and it also concludes the causes of the missing and mistranslation of images to throw light on the English translation of images in Chinese literature .

《红楼梦》是中国乃至世界文学宝库中的一颗璀璨的明珠，也是对外传播中国传统文化的重要载体。本文通过对比杨宪益夫妇和大卫?霍克斯的两种英译本，分析《红楼梦》诗词英译中文化意象的传递策略。研究发现：1.通过对比分析两种英译本对生态文化意象、物质文化意象、社会文化意象、宗教文化意象和语言文化意象诗词的翻译，发现杨译版本能够更好的保留和传递《红楼梦》中的文化意象。2.较之霍译版本，杨译版本在诗词翻译策略上更多使用异化和直译方法，能更好地传递中国传统文化意象；3.在文化意象的传达问题上，译者需遵循“文化传真”的原则，灵活使用不同翻译策略，尽量保持源语文化意象的完整性和一致性。
A Dream of Red Mansions is not only a bright pearl in Chinese and world literature, but also an important carrier of external communication of Chinese traditional culture. Based on a comparative analysis of Yang’s version and Hawkes’ version, this paper analyzes the transfer strategies of cultural image in the poetry translation ofA Dream of Red Mansions. The study discovers that Yang’s version can better reserve and transfer the cultural images inA Dream of Red Mansions after a comparative analysis of ecological culture images, material culture images, social culture images, religious culture images and linguistic culture images; compared with Hawkes’ version, Yang’s version adopts the translation strategy of foreignization and literal translation more frequently,so it can better transfer Chinese traditional culture images; when transferring cultural images, translator should observe the principle of “ facsimile of culture” in a flexible way and use different translat

Cultural image translation is an important aspect in cultural translation , and it is appealing more and more attention among translators.Cultural image is the reflection of national culture and national character .It is the fruit of the intelligence and history in a nation.The Republic of Wine , the fiction written by MoYan , stands for the characteristics of Chinese cultural .There are a large number of different cultural image , which represents for different meaning , and that is where the distinguishing feature of the fiction located .By analyzing some cultural images in the Russian version of The Republic of Wine , the article is to clarify the translation strategy , which is based on the theory of functional equivalence .After the discussion of translation strategy , it can help to find out the function of the communication of two national cultural images , and it can improve the culture exchange and fusion be-tween China and Russia .
