Poly (lactic acid) (PLA) was blended with different particle size of talc, and the crystallization was studied by DSC and POM. It shows that the smaller the parti- cle size, the higher the degree of crystallization of PLA, and the tensile strength was increased, but toughness decreased. When the particle size was the same, increasing amount of talc also makes the degree of crystallization increase. As a consequence, the mechanical properties of the blend were enhanced.

Used citric acid as a modifier for surface treatment of talc,the modified talc and polypro-pylene(PP)were prepared by melt blending and obtained a series of PP/talc composites. With infra-red absorption spectrum,scanning electron microscopy(SEM),impact properties test,tensile prop-erties test and other experimental methods,researched the modified talc influence of the internal mi-crostructure,mechanical properties and flow properties to the composites. The results showed that:the talcum powder after citric acid modifing can obviously improve the compatibilitys between talcum powder particle and PP,promote the talcum evenly dispersed in PP matrix,and improved process-ing flow properties,impact properties,tensile properties and other mechanical properties,toughened and reinforced PP.

The chain extension reaction of recycled PET (r-PET)was studied via reactive extrusion using pyro-mellitic dianhydrde (PMDA)as chain extender.And the talc nanoparticle was prepared by grinding pulveriza-tion and was employed to reinforce the r-PET by melt compounding.It was be found that the nanosized talc could more efficiently enhance the mechanical properties of r-PET matrix than the microsized talc.The DSC analysis results indicated that the nanosized talc acted as the nucleating agent for r-PET.

The flame retardant grid material was prepared by adding bromine flamed retardants and talc into poly -propylene(PP).The flame retardancy, mechanical properties, melt index, thermal stability and crystallization be-haviors of the grids were evaluated .The results showed that the flame retardant grid of PP containing talc improves the melt index and crystallinity, but the flame retardancy and mechanical properties are reduced .With the addition of 5%talc by mass to the flame retarded grid, the elongation at break, peak heat release rate and total heat release are reduced greatly by 96.33%, 47.36% and 31.64% respectively.The flame retardancy of flame retarded grid containing 10% talc by mass is improved while the elongation at break is 97.5% down.The TG and DSC analysis of retarded grid showed that the thermal stability has impact on the flame retardancy while αcrystalline melting tem-perature has impact on melting index .

A rapid method for the determination of talcum powder in condoms was developed.After being digested by microwave digestion system, magnesium in samples was analyzed by atomic absorption spectrometry.The content of magnesium in samples was converted to the content of talcum powder after the bottom of magnesium being eliminated in the sample.The linear range was 0.5~5.0 mg/L(r=0.99).Its RSD was in the range of 0.61%~0.80%.The average recovery was 96.6%~106.5%.The method is simple, rapid and adapt to determinate talcum powder in condoms.

The mechanical properties and acid/al-kali resistance of chlorosulfonated polyethylene/sty-rene-butadiene rubber ( CSM/SBR ) blends modified by talcum powder were studied.The results showed that talcum powder played an important role in rein-forcing mechanical properties and improving chemi-cal resistance of the blends.The blends filled with 80 phr of talcum powder showed better mechanical properties and acid/alkali resistance when soaked respectively in the sulfuric acid , hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide solution at room temperature for 7 d.Thermogravimetric analysis indicated thatthe thermal stability of the blends was improved sig-nificantly and the temperature at 10%mass loss was above 388 ℃.Fourier transform-infrared spectrosco-py certified that the acid and alkali resistances were excellent.Morphological studies by scanning elec-tron microscope confirmed that the modified rubber blend had the best blending ratio of 80/20/80 ( CSM/SBR/talc).

The experimental test results showed that, the energy consumption of mixing process was reduced, the tear resistance of the vulcanizates increased, the heat build-up was reduced, the dispersion of high surface area carbon black was improved, and the adhesion property of the compound was improved.

Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) with iodine tincture pleurodesis on malignant pleural effusion (MPE). Methods:Clinical data from 47 MPE cases were retrospectively analyzed. Based on different treatments, the 47 cases were divided into Groups A (n. 25) and B (n. 22), which used iodine tincture and talc powder as a hard-ener, respectively. Provided that all cases were conclusively diagnosed as MPE, and the patients underwent VATS pleural biopsy and pleurodesis, Groups A and B were comparable. The authors then compared the postoperative effectiveness rates (both complete and par-tial remissions), the volume of chest drainage, the incidence of adverse reactions, and the drainage time of the chest tube between the two groups. Results:Difficulty in breathing was proven to be less severe among all cases after the operation, and none of the patients suffered from acute lung injuries. The effects of talc on the mechanical properties,melting flow rate,flame retardant properties and thermal stabi-lities of flame retarded polypropylene used for geo-grid were studied and the mechanism of talc was analyzed by limited oxygen index,alcohol blow lamp test,differential scanning calorimeter,thermo-gravimetric analyzer,cone calorimeter and mechanical performances test.
