In order to study thermal situation of a novel claw pole machine with outer permanent magnet rotor ( CPMPM) , on the basis of introducing its special structure briefly , the equivalent thermal circuit model of this machine was built up , and then calculation equations of thermal resistance for every parts of the machine were derived.Thermal analysis simulation procedure of this kind of machine was developed and the simula -tion research for thermal and temperature rise of this machine was done under the operating conditions.Fi-nally, the thermal test for this prototype was completed by means of experiment platform; Correctness of e-quivalent thermal circuit analysis model was verified through the comparison of experiment result and theory analysis, and also laid the foundation of theory and technology on further research on this kind of machine.

In order to optimize thermal design of a LHT-100 Hall thruster, the thermal behaviour of a LHT-100 Hall thruster was described. Warm-up time,steady-state temperature distribution and space environ?ment simulation for the thruster were simulated by the finite element analysis software. The simulation results were compared with thermal-balance experiment results,which show the high temperature components are dis?charge chamber, anode and magnetizer, and the thermal weakness components include inner circuitry and an?ode insulation parts, whose temperature are up to 401~421℃ and 141~381℃. Thermal design optimization measures suggest that increasing heat shield between discharge chamber and inner circuitry will reduce the inner circuitry temperature about 80~90℃,and thermal deformation occurred in the anode insulation parts is the core factor which influences the reliability of the Hall thruster,which should be considered in thermal design.
