The effective coking wastewater treatment and recycling can reduce pollution of the environment, save water resources, and realize the sustainable development of society.

Coking wastewater usually comes from primary cooling of coke oven gas, steam condensate in the coking production. In this article, the current status and progress of the biological treatment of coking wastewater was introduced. The research status and characteristics of these methods were analyzed and compared, such as activated sludge process, contact oxidation process, biological filter process, biological fluidized bed process, biological anaerobic treatment of wastewater, bioactivity carbon method and so on. In addition, some suggestions about the future research were proposed.

With the implementation of the Emission Standard of Pollutants in Coking Chemical Industry (GB 16171—2012),the advanced treatment of coking wastewater has become a difficult problem which needs to be solved urgently. The paper focuses on the application of membrane process to the advanced treatment of coking wastewater. The one-year operation effect shows that this method has pretty good effects on the reuse of the biochemi-cally treated coking wastewater.

The results indicated that when JQ-104 was used in the treatment of coking wastewater, the most suitable dosage of coking demulsifier was 300mg·L-1 and the maximal removal of oil was 95.51%, at the oil concentration 4235.6mg·L-1, and the best pH 6-8; When JQ-104 is used in production, the oil concentration of treated water was under 200mg·L-1. JQ-104 is a better coking demulsifier when used in coking wastewater treatment, which decreased environment pollution caused by wastewater.

In order to meet the requirement for recycling of treated coking wastewater, methods of flocculation and microwave-Fenton are combined to treat coking wastewater.The influence of dosing H2 O2 and Fenton agent for several times and influence of combination dosing of flocculation and microwave-Fenton on coking wastewater treatment are studied.Based on the comparison between sev-eral processes,it shows that the effect of flocculation-microwave-Fenton method is obviously better than flocculation and microwave-Fenton.The optimum combination order is flocculation before microwave-Fenton.
