Thomas Hardy is a British critical realism novelist and poet in the end of the nineteenth century.His most successful works is a series of novels called“Wessex Novels”.The main content is about decline of British rural patriarchal clan society in the second half of the nineteenth century,depicting the tragic fate of the people of lower performance, flashing the light of humanitarianism,with pessimistic color, reflecting the contradiction of Hardy thought.
